City of Kalamazoo Treasury Office Relocates for Renovations

By Jonathan Kleyer

The City of Kalamazoo’s Treasury Office at City Hall, 241 W. South Street, will be temporarily relocating to the Department of Public Services offices at 415 Stockbridge Avenue.

The move, which is taking place on May 24th, will allow the city to perform major renovations on the treasury office. Work is expected to keep the office at City Hall closed until August 9th.

According to information released by the city, the renovations are being done so that the city can keep the Public Services Customer Service Office and the Treasury Office in the same location, which the administration said would effectively “combine all customer service and billing operations for the City.”

This attempt to cut costs was figured into Kalamazoo’s approved 2010 Budget.

All tax and utility customer service and payment operations will remain available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while the Treasury Office is operating out of the Stockbridge location.

Once renovations on the office at City Hall are complete, both the city’s treasury and the public services customer service will be moving in. The office is located on City Hall’s first floor.
