City of Kalamazoo Treasury Office Relocates for Renovations

The City of Kalamazoo’s Treasury Office at City Hall, 241 W. South Street, will be temporarily relocating to the Department of Public Services offices at 415 Stockbridge Avenue.
The move, which is taking place on May 24th, will allow the city to perform major renovations on the treasury office. Work is expected to keep the office at City Hall closed until August 9th. more

KPS Administrator Named 2010 YWCA Lifetime Woman of Ach

The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) has announced that the 2010 YWCA Lifetime Woman of Achievement Award Recipient is a Kalamazoo Public Schools administrator.
Patricia Coles-Chalmers will receive the local YWCA chapter’s 26th Lifetime Woman of Achievement Award in an award ceremony at 5:15 p.m. on May 13th, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, 100 W. Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo. more

Garden Lane Water Treatment Facility Begins Operations

Portage’s new water treatment plant at the Garden Lane well field has started operations.
Construction for the $5,213,716 facility began last spring. The treatment facility was built to use an indoor gravel and carbon filter system to remove arsenic, iron and manganese from the groundwater supply. The project also included the addition of a new well to the well field. more
